Pressed Flower Bookmarks

If you remember way back in week one, the first thing I asked you to do was to find some beautiful flowers and carefully press them so they dry flat. There are many crafts you can do with pressed flowers and I’m including links to some great ones further down. Today we will focus on bookmarks. If you don’t have pressed flowers, you can also use pictures of flowers as I will show you.
Bookmarks are great because they can serve as reminders whenever you see them. Hopefully the bookmark you make will remind you that God created us, God loves us, and that God gave us the earth to care for.
I included a Bible verse on one of my bookmarks, and you can too! Here are a few you might like:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:34-35
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” – Psalm 24:1
“But ask the animals and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?” – Job 12:7-9
“For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.” – Psalm 50:10-11

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.” – Luke 12:6
To make your book mark you will need thick card or cardboard – this is a great way to recycle a box or the back of a pad of paper. Glue, scissors, and your decorations are needed too. I chose to punch a hole in the tops of my bookmarks and add string – but this is a choice.
The easiest way to attach your flowers, pressed or pictures, is to glue them! I used a paint brush to gently cover the top of my pressed flower so it will be protected when it dries, but you can also very gently use your finger. You may want to do two coats of glue. Let it dry completely before use. See this week’s quick video to see how I made mine!
We hope you’ve enjoyed SAMS Summer Camp and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
