Many centuries ago, the St Giles’ Fair began as our parish’s celebration of our patronal festival (on the Sunday closest to 1st September) – which we celebrated in church this past weekend.

Nowadays, of course, it is much bigger than either our church or even our parish, and is a major annual event in Oxford’s calendar, taking place today (Monday 5th September) and tomorrow (Tuesday 6th).
However, St Giles’ Church is still present! Come inside between 12pm and 5pm for somewhere quiet amidst all the bustle and noise, or visit our stall outside to buy some reasonably-priced soft drinks and cakes, or to take part in children’s activities (with balloons).
There will also be a quiet said service of Holy Communion on both days of the fair at 12:30pm.
