Remembrance Sunday

As usual on Remembrance Sunday at St Giles’, the format and timing for the morning service this week (Sunday 10 November) will change slightly.
Our said BCP Holy Communion service will be at 8.00am as usual.
Instead of the usual service at 10.30am, all are encouraged to join in the outdoor civic act of remembrance, at the war memorial outside St Giles’ (at the fork between Woodstock Road and Banbury Road). This service begins at 10.45am and will be led by Revd Anthony Buckley, Vicar of Oxford’s City Church (St Michael at the North Gate), along with other civic dignitaries.
Immediately after this short service, there will be a truncated service of Holy Communion in St Giles’ Church, with the aim of not finishing too much later than our usual time.
St Margaret’s Remembrance Ceremony

There will be a short, simple Remembrance Ceremony on Monday 11 November at 10.55am outside St Margaret’s at the war memorial. All welcome.

Games Night (for school years 3-7) is meeting on the afternoon of Saturday 16 November. We’ll be playing lots of games and eating lots of pizza while hanging out with our friends. Please talk to Eva for more details. All welcome (from both parishes)!

Toy Appeal

As in year’s past we are organising a collection for the Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal. The local Salvation Army partner with social services to provide gifts for children at Christmas time who might otherwise go without. They gave gifts to over 100 families year and with the on-going impacts of the cost of living the need continues to rise in our city. All gifts need to be new. Please bring donations to St Giles’ on Sundays, or at lunchtimes in the week – there will be a labelled box at the back. Donations needs to be received by the Sunday 7th December. Thank you for your support!
They are especially interested in receiving colouring and craft sets and do not want soft toys.
