St Giles’ Fair took place this week on Monday and Tuesday (4-5 September), and as always St Giles’ Church was open for fair-goers who wanted a little bit of (relative!) quiet and respite from the noise and bustle outside.

On the Monday, for the first time we also hosted a model fairground exhibition, with model-makers from all over the country keen to show off their creations, some of which you can see below:

The exhibition was a big success, and over the two days volunteers were kept busy serving teas, coffees, cake and scones. Huge thanks to all the volunteers and organisers, especially Jane, Helen and Mary for all the work they put in on the day and behind the scenes.
The fair – which originally began as our patronal celebration, way back in medieval times, before it became a city event – will of course be back next year, and hopefully the model-makers will be returning as well!
