During Holy Week, the theme for the week is “The Absences of God”.
Not “the absence of God”, because God is never absent from our lives and our world, whether we feel God’s presence or not.
But rather, the absences that we encounter in the Holy Week journey, through which we find God. These echo absences in our own individual lives and the lives of our societies: insight, love, understanding, hope, knowledge, truth, and belonging. But precisely because God is with us, we end on Easter night with the absence of fear.
