Claire has provided an overview of the series, which you can read below:
St Giles’ Gardening Group

We shall start again in February and as usual this is the third Saturday of the month from 10.30am to 12pm. HOWEVER we are ‘promised’ a sunny day with a higher temperature for next Saturday January 27th, so would like to kick off on this Saturday with an early Spring tidy up and pruning of the rose pergola outside the parish rooms. Please join us! Coffee and cake provided; all hands and general assistance most welcome. (Don’t forget your gardening gloves.)
Join us too for the RSPB Birdwatch 2024
We also need someone to record birdlife in our church graveyard for only one hour between 26 and 28th January. Don’t worry it’s very easy, even if you don’t know your blackbird from your magpie! We have the very simple chart to record numbers in, together with the pictures of all common birds. You can do this when the gardeners are working – more robins come out then! If 2 people volunteer, we can record in the north and south graveyards. – Helen
Oxford University Jazz Orchestra & Imperial College Big Band

St Margaret’s Recipe Book

Eve Barsham and Sam Schad are putting together a St Margaret’s recipe book. We would love to have your recipes! They can be family favourites, recipes with a St Margaret’s connection, recipes devised by or associated with a particular person, recipes suitable for children to make, you name it! Please get in touch with Sam or Eve if you’d like to submit a recipe. The more the merrier! Thank you!
Supporting the Gatehouse

As most will know, one of the charities supported by St Giles’ Church is The Gatehouse, a registered charity and drop in community centre giving meals, clothes, computer access and general support for the vulnerable and homeless. There is also a valuable counselling service organised by our own Revd Anne Holmes.
As well as some financial contributions from the church, we can all help individually by donating items such as tinned and packeted food, or clothing items particularly requested by the Gatehouse, eg new men’s underwear/ pants; (always required).
There is a new box in place near the kitchen in St Giles’, labelled ‘Gatehouse’ and all donations will be taken over weekly to the Gatehouse Centre in the parish rooms.
Please donate whenever you can.

I can’t see any of the Bellringing News which I submitted to the Benefice Manager a few days ago. Please try to get into the next issue at least the announcement of the attempt to ring a full three-hour peal next Saturday morning 3rd Feb starting at 10:00.
Hi John,
This is last week’s issue – if you look at the news published on Saturday you’ll see the bellringing news in the Parish News section.
Thanks!
