We will be celebrating harvest at St Giles’ this Sunday (28 October) and at St Margaret’s next Sunday (5 October). Harvest is a time when crops have been gathered in and traditionally we give thanks for our food. As in previous years, both churches – and our parish school, Ss Philip & James Primary – will be collecting items for the Gatehouse, the homelessness charity based in St Giles’ Parish Rooms.
The Gatehouse are always pleased to receive any of the following items – please bring them to the respective Harvest service if (or if that isn’t possible, you can leave them at St Giles’ Church between 12pm and 2pm, Monday to Friday):
Food items:
- Tuna

- Mayonnaise
- Salad Cream

Items can be brought to church, but please no perishable goods (e.g. fresh fruit or vegetables).
Toilet twinning
St Giles’ would also like to celebrate the completion of the kitchen works and the provision of a new toilet by taking part in a ‘toilet twinning’. We will be raising funds to sponsor the provision of a toilet in a country of our choice. £60 will provide a single toilet, £240 will provide toilets for a school. There will be a collection plate at the back of church on Sunday morning for donations. We will receive a certificate to be displayed in our new toilet acknowledging our donation and stating the country in which the toilet we have sponsored is located.
